Background and aims: The aim of this study was to determine the hepatitis B virus seroprevalence of patients infected by hepatitis C. Materials and methods: Three hundred and twenty hepatitis C virus-infected patients (F/M:181/139, mean age 49.7±12 years) were enrolled in the study. Results: HBsAg positivity in 14 (4.4%) and anti-HBs positivity in 124 (39.1%) patients was determined. Anti-HIV was detected in 67 patients. Anti-HIV positivity was not detected in any patient. Conclusion: As a result, HBV seroprevalence in the group of HCV-infected patients in our country is similar to that of the general population.
